United Airlines - Poor Planning and Service

In October I'm flying to a friend's wedding. I booked my flight and waited to upgrade until I had taken another flight on United and gathered the miles I needed. I had a direct flight from Maine back to the West Coast. Enough miles. However...

United took it upon themselves to rebook me from a direct flight to two flights via Chicago. Now, they want double the miles in order to get the upgrade. So, they've not only extended my flying time (with no warning, email, call, etc) - but now they've kept me from upgrading.

I'm just glad I went to their website today to upgrade and saw the change. Otherwise I wouldn't even have known till I got to the airport and found that my flight didn't even exist!

    Fly the friendly skies, indeed.
